Having just updated my Viscount Legend One’s software, I thought I’d do a quick post on how to do it, as the text file with the download isn’t super clear. Also do check out the video below if you’re a visual person, as it covers everything beautifully.
How to update Software Version
1. Download the Zip files for the System Update and Sound Banks from the Viscount website (downloads strangely don’t have their own page but you can find what you need on their help page with some trawling and checking out the latest news section on that page). You need to unzip both and only copy the .LOU file (system update) and .LOS file (sound bank) to your FAT or FAT32-formatted USB Flash Drive.
2. Insert the USB flash drive into your Legend One in the USB ‘To Device’ port on the back of your keyboard.
3. Turn on your Legend One
4. Press the Menu button
5. Use the silver scroll-wheel/button to get to ‘Utility’
6. Press the silver wheel down (Enter) to confirm
7. Use the right arrow button to get to ‘Release’ section and you’ll see your current software version (also: use the scroll wheel and you’ll see your sound bank version as well!)
8. Press down the silver scroll-wheel (Enter) and you’ll be shown the update file name on your USB Flash Drive
9. If the file name is correct, press down the Silver scroll-wheel (Enter) again to ‘Proceed’. The display will now tell you it’s checking the file and updating
10. A message will display that the update is complete – turn off your Legend One and remove the USB Flash Drive
How to update Soundbank Version
Follow the steps exactly as per above for the Software Version, but at Step 7 ensure you’ve scrolled to the sound bank section before pressing the silver scroll-wheel to enter / start the process.
